Registration Form

Location: The OMNI RICHMOND Hotel at 12th & Cary Streets (100 South 12th Street) in the financial district, adjacent to historic Shockoe Slip with its cobbled streets and fine restaurants, and within walking distance of the State Capitol, Governor’s Mansion and the White House of the Confederacy.

To reserve a hotel room, call OMNI Reservations at 1-800-THE-OMNI giving the name of our group. All group attendees will be responsible for their own room, tax, and incidental charges.

Schedule

Thursday. October 3rd
From 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Registration and Hospitality in the Rappahannock Room in the Omni Richmond Hotel. Claiborne Society archives will be on display. Dinner and evening on your own with Claiborne and Cliborn relatives and friends. Hospitality Room will reopen after dinner and stay open until 10:00 pm.

Friday, October 4th
8:30 am to 12:00 Noon
Meet in the Atrium Lobby, facing Cary Street, of the Omni Richmond Hotel to board bus departing at 8:30 am for a narrated tour of “Old Richmond.” Stops will include the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Libby Hill, the Medical Museum at Chimborazo Park, St. John’s Cemetery on Church Hill, the National Battlefield Visitor Center at Tredegar Iron Works, and Hollywood Cemetery.

12:00 Noon to 1:00 pm
Lunch at the historic Jefferson Hotel with three courses served in the Library by Lemaire Restaurant.

1:00 pm to 1:10 pm
Descend Grand Staircase to board bus waiting on Main Street. Drop-off at the Omni Richmond Hotel.

1:10 pm to 5:15 pm
Bus continues for an afternoon tour of “City Environs and the Civil War,” in Petersburg at the Siege Museum, Blandford Church and Cemetery, General Grant’s Headquarters at Appomattox Plantation, City Point, and Bermuda Hundred.

5:15 pm
Bus returns to Omni Richmond Hotel.

Dinner and evening on your own to explore Richmond and rekindle friendships.

Saturday morning, October 5th

Keynote Speaker: S. Waite Rawls, III
Waite Rawls has a strong Southern ancestry and is a Virginia Military Institute graduate. For three decades he left the South behind, working as an investment banker in New York and Chicago before returning to his native Virginia. After lengthy service on the Civil War Preservation Trust's board, in 2004 he became the Museum of the Confederacy's president and CEO—a job he says challenges and inspires him daily.

Sunday morning, October 6th Farewell

Society members will have the morning free to bid each other farewell, and newly elected officers will meet in the Boardroom for their first business meeting.
